Aktiviti ziarah rakan-taulan

Ni cerita beberapa bulan lepas, masa Easter holiday. Since the weather was quite nice, we have decided to pay good old frens, a visit. Jadi sampailah kami ke Lancaster dan Norwich. Sempat jugak singgah jumpa kak Lah n femli di Manchester.

Souvenir dari Norwich.

Pantai di Great Yarmouth.

Alia with her giant doughnut and ice-cream.

Kami posing je dan masuk gift shop..tak masuk pun dalam Sea-Life Centre ni. Al-maklum la...percutian budget.

Di tengah2 bandar Norwich.

My hubby and me.

University of East Anglia.

Cantik campus ni...penuh kehijauan.

Pastu ada tasik pulak tu. Widad's humongous window was like looking straight into a picture-postcard view. Cantik!

Terima kasih to Widad n Ijal serta their cute little daisy Wardah, yang bersusah-payah meraikan kedatangan kami. Thank you ever so much. Masih ku terkenang nasi goreng seafood Widad tu. Yummy!

Malamnya, dia sampai tak mahu masuk bilik, asyik bermain dengan Damia. Pagi2 esoknya, mandi sama Damia, main sama Damia. Seronok sungguh dia dapat berkawan2.

Kanak2 riang...aku suka gambar ni. So cute, kihkihkih. Perasan muda sekejap.

We are the statues!

Terima kasih buat Dar n Ja'a yang masak macam2 untuk menjamu kami. Sate, nasi kuning (makanan org Tawau), udang ala tempura n siap order laksa Penang lagi!

Selepas 5 hari kami mengembara (cewah!), tibalah masa untuk berangkat pulang. Pulang? Not just yet...kami singgah umah K Lah di Manchester, sempat jugak tidoq semalam and then esoknya singgah ke destinasi kegemaranku...Stoke-on-Trent. Thanks a million to my hubby yang tanpa disangka-sangka, telah berbesar hati menaja sesi membelah duit di Stoke kali ini. Sungguh ku terharu...terima kasih daun keladi.....lain kali belanja le lagi....adinda tak marah punyer.

Catching up

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaa......lama betul tak update blog ni. Sudah bersawang gamaknya. I have literally been on the move : sekejap dok rumah, sekejap keluar rumah. Masuk hutan, keluar hutan. Nasib baik ada sang suami yang sama-sama tolong aku pegi field. This time around, kat ladang *oink oink di Windsor Great Park. 3-4 kali jugak kami ke sana. The smell was horrible but luckily my work did not have any direct contact with those yang hidung penyek tu.

Aku cuma menjadi ala2 penoreh getah a.k.a scrapping the algae off the trees. My hubby siap pakai mask segala...tak tahan katanya. Nasib baik aku bersemangat waja...walau hidungku kembang-kempis menahan bau yg semacam tu. Minggu depan kena masuk utan lagi...pasang diffusion tubes, to monitor the ammonia and nitrogen dioxide at the site. Pastu kena amik bark pH and then pegi ambik balik semua tubes tu. Lepas tu...abis le projek ni.

Mid June, we will be leaving for Scotland pulak, for my last and final fieldwork. Tak sabar nak tunggu semua keje abis. Hmmmm......

Hutan orang putih ni lapang je.....sebab takde canopy macam rainforest kita. Gambar ni masa winter so banyak pokok2 kecik kebanyakannya dormant. Summer ni pokok2 tu mula naik balik so ada le semak sikt2.

Ni la rupa kuadrat yang aku letak kat atas batang pokok oak. Yang hijau tu adalah terrestrial algae, my "prime suspect", hhihihi.

Aksi seorang penoreh getah tanpa rela.

Itu saja laporan academic utk kali ini...........

Put on that gloves, love

It has always been my interest to grow my own vegetable. This new hobby buds out here, in UK. Never, in my mind that I would be into gardening. Back home in Malaysia, I asked my hubby to covered any soil available around our house with concrete cement. I just don't bother to weed out the invasive grasses, let alone growing any vegetables or having a flower bed.

But people do change, right? And here I am.....sitting in the cold, mixing the soil with compost, while my other half putting his strength to test by digging out as many hole as possible to grow our vegetables. We had brocolli, broad beans, mangetout, sugar snap, several varieties of tomatoes and a selection of green bell peppers, red ones and cayenne.

I only managed to grow one single plant of tomato last year so it is kind of massive improvement this year. I got the 'green finger-man' on my side this year so hopefully all will ends well.

Sadly, we had to dig out all of them 2 days later since it was forecasted for snow and frost in the next few days. So my hubby spent his day digging out the seedlings and small plants (while I was in York, attending a conference) and bring them indoor, safe and warm.

Well...let me introduce you to our very own vegetable patches. Will keep you updated of the progress. Hopefully will be able to show you the harvest, at the end of the season...

See you, soon!
